Caleb Douglas was just another 3-star recruit when he arrived on campus for the Florida Gators and head coach Billy Napier.

The first year coach noticed some flashes in his game during the Gators’ scrimmage. It’s enough to have the staff fired up about the former quarterback at receiver.

“I think we’re excited about his upside,” Napier said, via On3 Sports. This guy is 6-3, maybe some change, and weighs close to 200 pounds. He’s got some unique traits I think, the things that are required to play receiver. He’s a developmental player that are think is making progress.”

Despite his head turning in camp, Douglas is unlikely to see playing time here soon. The Gators have a capable receiver corps this season, led by junior big-body Justin Shorter. Shorter leads all returning receivers with 550 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns last season.
