Emory Jones and Florida have been mired in a difficult season.

Sure, it defeated Samford in its last game, but the FCS Bulldogs lit up the Gators’ defense less than a week after defensive coordinator Todd Grantham was fired. The trajectory of the 2021 campaign has led to questions as to whether Dan Mullen will be fired following the close of the season.

Now, the Gators face a scenario where they must win 1 of their 2 games to claim bowl eligibility for a 4th straight year: at Missouri on Saturday and against Florida State in a Senior Day rivalry contest in Gainesville a week later.

Regardless of how a team is performing, fans must be held to a certain standard. Sadly, they don’t always live up to it, and it appears that it’s affected Jones’ mother, Trina.

According to Gators quarterback coach Garrick McGee, the comments fans have aimed at Emory Jones have made it tough for Trina Jones to attend football games altogether:

Emory Jones had a brief but spot-on response to McGee’s quote, which he posted to Twitter on Tuesday evening:

McGee has a point that fans have a right to make their voices heard. But it has to be done respectfully, and sadly, it appears some have forgotten that simple fact.
