Dan Mullen may have won over Florida fans the moment he stepped out of Florida’s private jet and started chomping his arms around like the team’s mascot but that enthusiasm has yet to carry over to the Gainesville box office.

Whether its due to a poor home schedule — the Gators are scheduled to face Charleston Southern, Kentucky, Colorado State, LSU, Missouri, South Carolina and Idaho in Gainesville this season — or last season’s 4-7 record, the school has reported a total of 58,000 ticket sales for 2018, which is 9,000 less than last season according to Edgar Thompson of the Orlando Sentinel.

The first three games on Florida’s home schedule may not be that appealing but should the Gators return home from a two-game win streak undefeated, it’s a safe bet that the LSU game will be sold out in the Swamp. How the fans turn out if those road games go the other way could make things interesting.

Games against Missouri, South Carolina and Missouri to close out the home schedule could go either way in terms of fan support based on how the Gators are doing but a win over Georgia in Jacksonville would likely result in those games being close to capacity, too.
