Some interesting news regarding Florida’s recruiting class broke on Thursday. Four-star CB Chris Steele out of St. John Bosco in Bellflower, Calif. announced he was backing off his pledge to USC.

The 247Sports Composite rates Steele as the No. 6 recruit out of California, No. 6 cornerback and No. 42 prospect overall nationally in the 2019 class. Even when Steele pledged to the Trojans, Florida coaches, players and recruits all kept in contact with Steele hoping to flip his commitment to the Gators.

Now that Steele is back on the market, Dan Mullen and his staff are back in the hunt. Oregon and Oklahoma are also expected to be factors, but UF is certainly helped by the constant contact throughout the process.

Steele has already planned his next commitment. He shared on Twitter Thursday night that he plans to commit on Jan. 5, 2019, live from the All-American Bowl.

Gators, Ducks and Sooners fans will certainly be tuning in.
