The Florida Gators’ season is officially over.

The No. 3 seed Texas Tech Red Raiders beat the No. 6 seed Gators 69-66 Saturday night in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. With the game in Dallas, it was more like a home game for the Red Raiders.

A couple things hurt the Gators. Guard Chris Chiozza picked up his fourth foul with 13:00 left in the second half, and he sat most of the half. He makes things happen offensively for the Gators, and it was obvious when he wasn’t in there. The Gators also shot just 6-22 from three and shot under 40 percent (25-63) from the field.

Texas Tech’s Keenan Evans took over the game. The senior guard scored a team-high 22 points. Freshman guard Zhaire Smith scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds. The Red Raiders had three players finish in double figures.

Jalen Hudson carried Florida, scoring 23 points and grabbing four rebounds. Egor Koulechov scored 12 points and also grabbed four rebounds. Chiozza finished with 11 points and three assists in his last game for the Gators.

Florida had a chance to tie it with seconds remaining, but the Gators missed two three pointers as time expired.

Texas Tech advances to the Sweet 16 to face the winner of Butler and Purdue.
