Florida’s new football and baseball facilities are still coming — just a little later than expected.

The Gators on Wednesday announced a new $65 million budget approval for their baseball stadium, which administrators expect to be completed by June 2020. Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin said in a press release that he originally hoped for the ballpark to be ready for the 2020 season, but a “period of rising construction prices” forced an adjustment in the timeline.

The delay also affects development of the Gators’ football training complex, which will occupy the site of the baseball team’s current stadium.

Once Florida’s 2020 baseball season has concluded, work will begin on the football facility slated to be completed by the end of 2021. The press release noted that the athletic department is also planning for “significant upgrades” to the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium locker room.
