Florida quarterback Kyle Trask was named the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week, the Davey O’Brien Foundation announced on Wednesday.

Trask was 30-of-43 with 474 yards passing and four touchdown passes on Saturday as he continued his record-breaking season against a Georgia defense which ranked No. 12 in scoring defense and No. 13 in total defense nationally coming into the game.

Trask’s 474 passing yards is the second-highest total in school history and just eight yards shy of Tim Tebow’s single-game school record of 482 set in the 2010 Sugar Bowl. The redshirt-senior set a single-game school record for passing yards against Georgia by the end of the third quarter, which he finished with 412 passing yards.

Trask threw for 300-plus yards against a Southeastern Conference opponent for the sixth time in his career, tying Doug Johnson (1996-99) for the fourth-most 300-yard games versus SEC teams in school history. Rex Grossman (12 – 2000-02), Danny Wuerffel (10 – 1993-96), and Shane Matthews (nine – 1989-92) are the only Gators with more 300-yard games against SEC teams.

Trask posted the eighth 300-yard passing game of his career, passing Johnson (1996-99) and Chris Leak (2003-06) for the fourth-most 300-yard passing games in school history. Trask has thrown for 200-plus yards in 13 consecutive games with 200-plus passing yards, tying Grossman (2000-02) for the second-longest streak in school history.

Additionally, Trask was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, the Maxwell Award Player of the Week and named to the Davey O’Brien Award Great 8, Manning Award Stars of the Week and the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Honorable Mention list for his performance on Saturday.

Trask has appeared on the Davey O’Brien Great 8 list three times this season and is on the watch list for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Year Award.

The other quarterbacks on this week’s Great 8 list were Ian Book of Notre Dame, Ohio State’s Justin Fields, D’Eriq King of Miami, Texas A&M’s Kellen Mond, Michael Penix Jr., of Indiana, USC’s Kedon Slovis and Carson Strong of Nevada.

The Davey O’Brien Foundation was created in 1977, and the National Quarterback Award, the oldest and most prestigious college quarterback award, was first issued in 1981. Over its time, the Davey O’Brien Foundation has given away more than $1 million in scholarships and university grants to help high school and college athletes transform leadership on the field into leadership in life.

In 1938, O’Brien, who was a star quarterback for TCU, became the first player ever to win the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award in the same year. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1955. For more information, visit www.DaveyOBrien.org.

Tim Tebow was the last Gators quarterback to win the Davey O’Brien Award when Tebow accounted for 3,286 yards and 32 touchdowns through the air and 895 yards and 23 touchdowns on the ground in 2007.

Danny Wuerffel also won the award twice in 1995 and 1996.
