Last year, Florida CB Jalen “Teez” Tabor was one of the best defensive backs in the country. Though he ran a slow 40-yard dash time at the scouting combine, Tabor was selected in the second round by the Detroit Lions.

Through the first part of OTAs this summer, Tabor has been struggling to find his feet in the NFL. Thanks in large part to current Detroit WR Marvin Jones, the ex-Gator has learned that things happen at a different speed at the professional level, according to MLive.com.

Tabor defended a fade route to Jones from QB Matthew Stafford perfectly, timing his leap right to make an interception — his biggest play of camp so far:

“He had been killing me for all the OTAs. I guess that was OTA Eight, and I finally decided to make a play,” Tabor said Thursday at a youth camp. “It was a great play. That’s something that I would say I want to do to help out the team win.”

Jones had 930 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 2016, so learning from him has been a blessing for Tabor. Jones said he likes what he sees from the Florida rookie so far:

“He’s a big guy, definitely physical,” said Jones. “He’s pretty good, man. He’ll help us.”

Tabor had 33 tackles and three interceptions for the Gators last season. He finished his three-year college career with a total of 104 tackles and eight picks.
