On Thursday, a slew of Ole Miss transfers were ruled eligible for the 2018 season. Former Rebels Deontay Anderson (Houston), Tre Nixon (UCF) and Jarrion Street (UAB) were all given the green light to play this fall, according to USA Today’s Dan Wolken. Breon Dixon, now at Nebraska, was also ruled eligible Thursday. Late last month, former Ole Miss QB Shea Patterson, now at Michigan, was declared eligible for 2018.

One big name was missing from the news: Van Jefferson.

Jefferson, who caught 91 passes for 999 yards in two seasons at Ole Miss, was one of Florida’s top receivers in spring practice. Many Gators fans are anxious to hear whether he will be eligible this fall.

According to Tom Mars, the attorney for the Ole Miss transfers, UF is to blame for the lack of news on Jefferson. The school has not yet submitted the waiver.

It would be foolish for Gator Twitter to come after head coach Dan Mullen or athletic director Scott Stricklin over the lack of news on Jefferson, but their frustration is certainly understandable with all the other news surrounding the Ole Miss transfers.

Mullen has been on the Gator club speaking circuit and told reporters this week that the team was going through the paper work in regards to Jefferson and fellow transfer Trevon Grimes. With so many of Jefferson’s teammates ruled eligible, it appears to be a matter of “when,” not “if” he will be officially eligible for 2018.
