If you missed the play that put Colorado State away on Saturday, you missed a great punt return by junior receiver Freddie Swain. The 85-yard punt return was special for two reasons: it was Swain’s first special teams touchdown of his Florida career and more interestingly, the junior called it before it happened.

That’s according to Dan Mullen, who noted as much during his postgame press conference.

The return occurred at the beginning of the fourth quarter and stretched Florida’s lead to 34-10. While Mullen was focused on drawing up the next offensive series for the team, Swain had his eyes set on the end zone the entire time.

“He’s done a great job fielding punts — he told me he was going to return one. He was like, ‘Hey, I’m going to return one, don’t even bother calling an offensive play.’ But it was the time before that, it wasn’t on (the touchdown). I was like, ‘Hey, let’s get the offensive series ready,’ and he was like, ‘Nah, I’m going to return this, so you don’t need to worry about that.’ And he did.”
