Saturday is not quite over, but make no mistake, the calendar has turned to Rivalry Week.

Florida State upset Boston College (No.20 CFP/No. 22 AP) 22-21 Saturday night. The come-from-behind victory gives the Seminoles their fifth win on the 2018 season and some extra confidence heading into the Florida game.

Asked about the regular-season finale against UF, FSU CB Stanford Samuels III said the Noles will come out on top again.

“That’s all we’re talking about,” he told reporters. “We’re gonna win. We’re gonna beat the Gators.”

A sophomore, Samuels can trash talk based on personal experience. FSU beat Florida 38-22 last year in The Swamp.

A lot has changed in a year, however. That UF squad was coached by Randy Shannon after Jim McElwain had been dismissed during the season. This year, Dan Mullen has the Gators 8-3 and ranked No. 13 by the College Football Playoff selection committee. One more win would almost certainly send Florida to a New Year’s Six bowl game.

Samuels’ quote may look like bulletin board material, but the Gators already had plenty of reasons to be fired up. FSU has a five-game winning streak over UF. Florida can also give Florida State its first losing season since 1976 and snap a streak of 36 consecutive bowl games.
