Someone in Toledo’s social media department learned to be careful about making promises on social media.

On Tuesday, the Toledo Twitter account said the school would change its mascot to famous animated movie character Shrek if a tweet (now deleted) received 500,000 retweets. After the tweet became viral, it was deleted, but thankfully captured in screenshots by many Twitter users.

UF’s Twitter team decided to get in on the fun Wednesday. A tweet, which can be seen below, promised that Florida would keep calling its football stadium The Swamp as long as it received five retweets on a Shrek tweet. The Florida tweet may have been inspired by the fact that a movie clip of Shrek saying, “What are you doing in my swamp?” is something of a meme of its own.

Gators fans have no need to be worried as UF’s Shrek tweet currently has more than 700 retweets.

Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at Florida Field was nicknamed The Swamp in 1992 by Steve Spurrier. The Gators celebrated 25 years of The Swamp last season.
