Mel Kiper Jr. is a big believer in Anthony Richardson.

Despite just 13 collegiate starts, the former Florida quarterback is a potential top 10 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Kiper believes Richardson has what it takes to become one of the top running quarterbacks in the league.

“The talent is off the charts,” Kiper said on Get Up on Tuesday morning. “If he ever becomes a starter, Greeny, he’ll be 1 of the top 3 running quarterbacks in the NFL. The passing, he’s got the howlitzer. He’s got the rocket arm. But accuracy, seeing the field, things he needs to work on.

“Another year at Florida would have benefitted him but, hey, he’s going to be a top 10 pick. Develop in the NFL.”

Here’s video of Kiper’s comments:

If Richardson does make into the upper echelon of running quarterbacks in the NFL, he would be in elite company. Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray have all been mobile and efficient in recent seasons.

In 2022, Richardson threw for 2,549 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also rushed for 654 yards and 9 more scores on the ground.

Richardson will have a big opportunity to impress scouts at the NFL combine this week in Indianapolis.
