Four-star receiver Vandarius Cowan, a one-time Florida State commitment that still is giving the Seminoles serious consideration, attended the big rivalry game Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Only, Cowan — apparently a guest of the Florida Gators — wanted to walk onto the field in FSU garb.

At 6-foot-3 and 221 pounds, having just completed his junior season of high school, Cowan is a coveted member of the 2017 recruiting class. Cowan also holds offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Notre Dame.

He committed to FSU on June 11, only to decommit one day after an unofficial visit to the Miami Hurricanes on Oct. 24 and five days before the Tide offered him on Oct. 30. (The Hurricanes, of course, have yet to name a new coach after firing Al Golden.)

It sounds like Cowan wanted to attend the game as a fan, but after feeling bummed out by the Gators staff, he eventually got into some sort of verbal disagreement with fans in the stands.

Cowan’s signing day is about 14 months out, so anything can happen. But it seems unlikely that Cowan will play at Florida.
