Florida and UCF are reportedly close to signing off on a future series.

Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel, citing sources from both programs, writes that the Gators and Knights are “close” to signing a contract for a three-game series. The series would be a “2-for-1” with games in Gainesville in 2024 and 2033 and UCF hosting in Orlando in 2030.

Bianchi points out that the 2-for-1 series is happening thanks to UCF’s change in athletic directors.

Former UCF athletic director Danny White, now at Tennessee, was publicly vocal about wanting to schedule a home-and-home between the Knights and Gators. Florida AD Scott Stricklin countered by offering a 2-for-1, two meetings in Gainesville and one in Orlando, citing UF not scheduling home-and-home series against teams outside of the Power 5. Terry Mohajir is now the AD at UCF and appears to have accepted Stricklin’s terms.

If Florida and UCF do not meet in the postseason between now and the 2024 season, the next meeting will be the third game in the series. The Gators won 58-27 in 1999 and 42-0 in 2006.
