Before every Florida football home game, the Gators name an honorary Mr. Two Bits (or Ms. Two Bits) to lead the iconic two bits cheer.

That cheer dates back to 1949, when George Edmondson started it prior to games at The Swamp.

Sadly, Edmondson has reportedly passed away. Per reporter Noah Taylor, Edmondson died on Wednesday night at the age of 97:

Edmondson retired from the two bits cheer in 2008, and since then, the Gators have named an honorary person to the position for each game.

This past season, the Gators had their fourth-ever “Ms. Two Bits” as a way to troll Kentucky (she was a Kentucky native) and have had others, like NFL broadcaster Cris Collinsworth, serve in the position in the past.
