After facing off against Jim Harbaugh twice as Florida’s head coach, Jim McElwain could soon be joining him on the sidelines in Ann Arbor.

The former Gator coach has reportedly been offered a position on the Michigan staff, that’s according to FootballScoop. McElwain coached in Gainesville for two and a half seasons before leaving the program in the middle of last season. Despite his short tenure at Florida, McElwain holds the distinction of being the only coach in SEC history to win his division in his first two seasons on the job.

Source tells FootballScoop Jim McElwain has been offered Michigan’s 10th assistant position. McElwain is expected to accept we are told. Receivers is currently the open position however Harbaugh could choose to reassign positions.

During his Florida tenure, McElwain went 22-12 overall and 16-8 against SEC opponents. The Gators lost to Alabama in both SEC Championship Games under McElwain.
