SEC Network's Greg McElroy takes issue with Florida in wake of Jim McElwain's firing
SEC Network analyst Greg McElroy sent out a pair of interesting tweets on Sunday in regards to Florida’s firing of head football coach Jim McElwain midway through his third season.
As he insinuated, the Gators coach should have had more time to make it work in Gainesville.
McElroy called college football’s coaching carousel a “cruel and irrational ride” and noted that he hopes McElwain is able to go somewhere he is appreciated.
“Also, I understand why UF fans wanted this,” McElroy tweeted. “I really do. I just hate seeing any coach lose their job after less than 4 years. Mac had 2.5.”
Should McElwain have been given more time after winning the SEC East in back-to-back seasons?
Apparently the Florida administration didn’t think so.
College Football’s coaching carousel is a cruel and irrational ride. I hope @CoachMcElwain gets to go somewhere where he is appreciated.
