Outside of the actual play on the field, the most memorable moment from the Week 0 showdown between Florida and Miami was Steve Spurrier’s reaction to Feleipe Franks’ horrible late-game interception that gave the Hurricanes life deep into the fourth quarter.

If you don’t remember the situation, the Gators had just stopped Miami on downs and regained possession of the ball. Instead of killing some clock, Dan Mullen called for a pass and Franks threw it in the area of three Hurricanes.

After the play, the broadcast caught Spurrier’s reaction up in the press box, which went viral.

What was the Head Ball Coach thinking during that moment?

“I was just like everybody else like, “Man, what’s he doing, what happened?’ They had a pass play on it and just wasn’t there and he tried to force it, I guess. Threw it right to the guy,” Spurrier says in the clip below. “Fortunately, we got the guy down and fortunately, they had a penalty on the play that put them from the 25 all the way back to the 40. Had they been on 25, they might be kicked off I don’t know but somehow it all worked out for the Gators.”
