Former Florida defensive back Vernon Hargreaves is expected to miss significant time following a shoulder injury suffered on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

The Tampa Bay Bucs cornerback, in his third year, left the locker room wearing a harness, the Tampa Bay Times reported. The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, earlier Wednesday, said the team would place Harvreaves on injured reserve.

The Times previously reported earlier this week that Hargreaves was set to visit orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion.

While Hargreaves was in the game, he made a difference.

Hargreaves forced a fumble by Saints running back Mike Gillislee that was scooped up and returned for a touchdown Sunday. It gave the Bucs a 31-17 lead with 4:27 remaining in the game. He also had seven tackles, and one pass broken up on Sunday.

Hargreaves has struggled to stay on the field because of injury, and has shown limited production in his short career. The 12th overall pick in 2016, Hargreaves has just one career interception, which came during his rookie year. Last season, Hargreaves missed seven games with a hamstring pull.
