Tim Tebow isn’t scared of big challenges, and he faces a big one Wednesday.

Tebow will make his spring training debut with the Mets’ MLB squad against reigning Cy Young Award winner in Boston’s Rick Porcello. Tebow will hit eighth in the lineup and will serve as the designated hitter (DH).

And although there will be plenty of media hoopla, as Tebow is known to draw a crowd, Mets’ manager Terry Collins doesn’t anticipate Tebow making the major league roster.

“I don’t think he’s going to make our team but I think it’s great for the organization and great for the fans,” Mets manager Terry Collins said. “He’s a pretty famous guy and it will be fun to get him out there.”

Tebow most recently hit just .194 against some of the game’s best prospects in the Arizona Fall League. His long swing will most likely be overmatched against MLB pitching, but wouldn’t that be something if he dropped a bomb against the Cy Young Award winner?

Tebow comes under scrutiny from many haters, and for a country where the majority loves Kim Kardashian and reality TV, it hates on an athlete trying to live his dream.

Tebow and the Mets are playing a split squad game against the Red Sox in Port St. Lucie. The game starts at 1:10 p.m. ET.
