Following last Saturday’s heart-stopping victory over Tennessee, Florida receiver Tyrie Cleveland revealed he and quarterback Feleipe Franks often stay after practice to work on deep passes.

And that extra work certainly paid off last Saturday, as Cleveland pulled in the game-winning 63-yard catch as time expired to lift the Gators to a 26-20 win over the Volunteers.

According to The Gainesville Sun’s Robbie Andreu, Cleveland’s catch came on a play “the Gators practice on every Friday during their walk through.” Not only that, but Andreu reports it’s the exact same play Florida called two seasons ago to beat Tennessee, when Will Grier connected with Antonio Callaway on another 63-yard touchdown.

But a recently unearthed video on Franks’ Twitter account showed the pair had been practicing the play far longer.

The video, which Franks posted on Twitter July 21, shows Cleveland lining up in the exact same spot inside Florida’s indoor practice facility that he did last Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. And aside from the play-action from Franks used in the video, everything else was the same, including where Cleveland caught the ball in the indoor practice facility’s end zone.

Sometimes, practice makes perfect.
