In a roundabout way, Antonio Callaway may prove to be the most expensive signing in XFL history.

If you were unaware, former XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck is suing the XFL following his termination after the league folded with $23.8 million of his guaranteed salary still owed to him by league owner Vince McMahon.

While Luck is owed that money according to his contract, McMahon would not owe the money if the former XFL commissioner was fired for cause. Now we know the “cause” McMahon is attempting to use to not pay Luck the remainder of his guaranteed salary.

McMahon claims Luck was using his company phone for personal use, Luck left the XFL offices two days before the league office folded and that the signing of receiver Antonio Callaway was a violation of XFL rules.

Luck is challenging all those claims in the lawsuit.

Florida attorney Darren Heitner has shared the following legal document outlining the XFL’s complaint against Luck when it comes to signing Callaway.

It’s hard to imagine making a few personal calls and leaving the office right before the collapse of a league is going to affect how much money Luck is owed by McMahon so Callaway’s signing could be the key to the former XFL commissioner either being paid or losing $23.8 million.
