Georgia had the nation’s No. 1 2018 recruiting class for a while, but Ohio State recently regained the top spot.

However, coach Kirby Smart’s crew still has the best class in the SEC, with an impressive 6 5-star and 12 4-star athletes in the mix.

Coming off a year in which the Bulldogs reached the National Championship Game, reloading is imperative this offseason.

The Dawgs are losing quite a few talented players to graduation and the NFL, which will open opportunities for some of the incoming freshmen to see the field right away.

Justin Fields is the headliner, but here’s a look at three other 2018 signees who could have a major impact this fall, just like Jake Fromm and D’Andre Swift did last fall:

Adam Anderson, OLB

Georgia’s defense was one of the nation’s best in 2017, but the Bulldogs’ average of 2.27 sacks per game ranked 48th in the country.

The Dawgs are losing 18 of their 34 sacks from last year, so new players are going to have to get after the quarterback in order to keep the defense rolling.

Enter Anderson, a 5-star signee and the nation’s No. 1 outside linebacker in the 2018 class. The Bulldogs have some other players in the mix at the position, but Davin Bellamy and Lorenzo Carter combined for 9.5 sacks last year, and Anderson will have a chance to work his way into the rotation to replace some of that production.

Cade Mays, OL

Flipping Mays from Tennessee and beating Ohio State and Clemson for his services was a huge get for Smart and his coaching staff in December.

Now, the nation’s No. 3 offensive tackle will have a chance to contribute to Georgia’s dynamic run game right away. Andrew Thomas, a true freshman in 2017, stepped in and solidified the right tackle spot last year, and he will likely slide over to left tackle to replace the outgoing Isaiah Wynn in 2018.

That opens a spot on the right side for Mays, who will have to compete with Isaiah Wilson, a 5-star tackle from the 2017 class, and others for the starting job.

Mays has his work cut out for him if he wants to see the field as a true freshman, but he’s an early enrollee, so he’ll get an early start during spring practices.

Nadab Joseph, CB

The Bulldogs were hit particularly hard in the secondary, with Malkom Parrish, Aaron Davis and Dominick Sanders all graduating.

Therefore, there will be plenty of opportunities for Joseph and some of the Dawgs’ other highly-rated 2018 DBs (including Divaad Wilson and Chris Smith.

Richard LeCounte III, a 2017 signee, will likely slide into a starting safety position, but Joseph could find playing time immediately in Parrish’s left corner position or Davis’ star position.

Georgia will need the revamped secondary to get up to speed quickly, too. The Dawgs face South Carolina’s Jake Bentley and Deebo Samuel in Week 2 and SEC record-setter Drew Lock and Missouri in Week 4. Having a guy like Joseph, the No. 18 corner in the 2018 class, step in and contribute right away would be a huge boost to that unit.
