Aaron Murray’s debut in the XFL wasn’t the start the SEC’s all-time leading passer was hoping for and now he’ll have to wait at least another week to redeem himself.

If you missed it last weekend, Murray completed 16 of his 34 passes for 231 yards but failed to throw a touchdown and was intercepted twice by New York Guardian defenders. He also lost a fumble.

Murray’s Tampa Bay Viper team dropped the season opener 23-3.

Following that rough debut, Murray has been ruled out for Tampa Bay’s upcoming game against the Seattle Dragons. Murray suffered what is being called a “lower-foot injury” during the first half against New York and was unable to practice on Thursday.

Murray was asked about his injury by the FOX sideline reporter during last week’s loss to New York and the quarterback claimed he was good to continue playing.

“Oh, nothing,” Murray said. “Just getting hit for the first time in a while. We’ll be good to go for the rest of the game.”

With Murray out against Seattle, the Vipers will be turning to either former USF quarterback Quinton Flowers or former Oklahoma State quarterback Taylor Cornelius this weekend.
