The Alabama coaching staff must have been disappointed when Crimson Tide WR Calvin Ridley’s younger brother, Riley, chose to commit to Georgia instead.

However, they still have Calvin, so it’s tough to be too upset at the Ridley family as Riley prepares for his sophomore season with the Bulldogs.

The younger Ridley will likely have to sit out in Week 1 after a marijuana arrest, but Calvin told OnlineAthens.com at SEC Media Days on Wednesday that he thinks his brother will be just fine this fall:

“I really don’t think it was what it seemed to be,” Calvin said. “I just told him you’ve got to stay focused. You’ve got a goal that you want to get to and we need you to be good and not get in trouble.”

The elder Ridley also told OnlineAthens.com that he holds no hard feelings toward his brother for not following him to Tuscaloosa and said he believes the Bulldogs have one of the country’s best receivers in Riley:

“He is his own man,” Ridley said. “He can definitely be as good as me. He is definitely as good as me.”

Riley finished his freshman season with 12 catches for 238 yards and two touchdowns. Even if he misses the first game of the 2017 season, it’s a safe bet that he’ll increase those numbers as a sophomore.
