Former Georgia offensive lineman Andrew Thomas is now an NFL player, as the New York Giants drafted Thomas with the No. 4 pick overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.

When Kirby Smart took over Georgia, he vowed to make the Bulldogs stronger up front. He immediately accomplished those goals by signing Atlanta-native Andrew Thomas and teammate Isaiah Wilson.

Exiting high school, Thomas was a 4-star prospect and ranked as the nation’s No. 9 offensive tackle and the state of Georgia’s No. 5 overall prospect in the class of 2017, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Entering Georgia, Thomas started from day 1 in Athens. During his 3-year career, Thomas started 41 of 42 games and allowed just 37 pressures. He started at right tackle his freshman season, gaining All-American honors, and moved to left tackle his sophomore year. His 2019 season, however, was his best, as Thomas was named a second-team All-American and was a semifinalist for the Outland Trophy.

The Georgia native’s versatility is very attractive in the NFL, as he has experience and has excelled at both left and right tackle. That will come in handy for him to compete for playing time immediately at football’s highest level.

Thomas declared for the 2020 NFL Draft prior to Georgia’s bowl game against Baylor.
