Jayson Stanley didn’t make an immediate impact upon his arrival in Athens but after putting in the work, he improved enough to be a starter by the time his collegiate career came to an end. Now he’ll get the opportunity to follow that same path in the NFL.

Stanley may have gone undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft but the Atlanta Falcons worked quickly to pick him up as an undrafted free agent. The team officially announced Stanley’s signing on Monday.

The Fairburn, Ga., native appeared in 25 games for the Bulldogs in his final two seasons with the program and started Georgia’s appearance in the 2017 SEC Championship Game. He also started last season against Kentucky and Georgia Tech. However, don’t expect him to be catching any passes from Matt Ryan in the future.

While Stanley may be a Falcon, the team has announced his signing as a defensive back. Could Stanley be the next Richard Sherman, a college receiver that finds success at the game’s highest level after a position switch? We’ll have to wait and see but Stanley has the opportunity to do just that and he won’t have to travel far from home to do it.
