Georgia is running out of coaches to call plays in the TaxSlayer Bowl vs. Penn State.

According to media reports, outgoing offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheiemer will not coach during the bowl game, joining former head coach Mark Richt and outgoing defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.

The Bulldogs are going to be down to a bare-bones staff against the Nittany Lions, as future coach Kirby Smart will remain with Alabama through the College Football Playoff.

Some — presumably long-suffering Georgia fans — feel that Schottenheimer’s lack of involvement is a positive development. After Nick Chubb suffered a season-ending knee injury against Tennessee, Georgia averaged just 15.8 points per game the rest of the season.

Still others are very curious as to who will call plays for the Bulldogs.

The Georgia-Penn State game is as meaningless as bowl games can be. Still, players, coaches and fans want to win every time UGA takes the field. It’ll be interesting to see if the coaching staff lets loose in this one or goes the other way with a vanilla plan.
