Brock Bowers missed almost a month of action after undergoing Tightrope surgery, but the star tight end made his return on Saturday against Mississippi State.

In his first game back, Bowers had 3 receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown. For Bowers, making a quick return was all about getting back and helping his team.

“I just wanted to come back for the team and all the guys in the locker room,” Bowers said in a press conference Tuesday. “We just all care so much about each other and I just wanted to comeback and help the team win.”

He notched a touchdown in his first game back, giving him confidence moving forward. It was a play he was very familiar with.

“We rep that play, I swear like every single week, every single day, for like 3 years,” Bowers said. “That was the first time we’ve actually ran it in the game and it’s been the right coverage to throw the wide ball. I came up and saw it motion out and was like ‘Oh man, this might be good.’ It felt really good just kind of getting back and scoring and being able to celebrate on the sideline with all the dudes. It was fun.”

The rehab process was all about hitting benchmarks. While he didn’t want to rush the process, meeting goals every week turned into a competition within himself, and it led to a speedy recovery.

“I liked the rehab process because it was going fast,” Bowers said. “I was progressing pretty fast and hitting those benchmarks like I said. It was kind of like, the next day just seeing what I could hit, see if I can get faster than the other day. It was kind of fun that way.”

Now Bowers and Georgia prepare for a big game against Tennessee at Neyland Stadium. The matchup with the Vols will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET.
