Hutson Mason got his one year as a starter and had an up-and-down season. The redshirt senior was efficient, throwing just four interceptions all season.

He lacked, however, the flashiness and the arm strength of quarterbacks like Aaron Murray and Matthew Stafford which led to just 166.8 passing yards per game.

Now, the Georgia Bulldogs will be forced to start a quarterback with much less experience in 2015, no matter who they choose to replace Mason.

2014 quarterback: Hutson Mason, 2,168 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, 67.9 completion percentage

2015 favorite: Brice Ramsey, rising redshirt sophomore; 24-of-39, 333 passing yards, three touchdowns

Others involved: Faton Bauta, rising redshirt junior; Jacob Park, rising redshirt freshman

Level of concern (1-10): 6 — While the job is most likely to go to Brice Ramsey, there’s a lot of unknown in regard to any of Hutson Mason’s replacements. Both Ramsey and Bauta, despite being on campus for a few years, have very little experience thanks to Aaron Murray and Mason. At times this season, Ramsey looked spectacular delivering balls with exceptional arm strength and accuracy. But he still has a lot of improvement to make in terms of being more consistent, and the hope is that will come with more practice reps and game experience. He’s the expected replacement for Mason in 2015.

When will it be decided: Spring practice. Ramsey received a lot more reps during the season as the primary backup to Mason than any other possible option for 2015. He’ll come into spring practice as the favorite and will likely win the job by the end of spring camp.

Biggest ally: Nick Chubb. While UGA returns Malcolm Mitchell and Jeb Blazevich as receivers, I think running back Nick Chubb will be the QB’s biggest ally in 2015. Georgia is a run-first team and if Chubb is effective, it opens up a lot of options for the passing game. Working off the play action will be a big weapon for UGA next season and Chubb is the key to getting things going through the air.
