The Georgia Bulldogs were busy on the transfer market this offseason. Not only did they land graduate transfer QB Jamie Newman from Wake Forest, they also picked up JT Daniels from USC.

Both are eligible this fall, so there figures to be a competition for the starting job. Many anticipate Newman will get the nod in Week 1, though.

On Wednesday’s edition of “College Football Live” on ESPN, analyst (and former Bulldog) David Pollack said he thinks Newman can be special for Georgia (via 247Sports):

“You know how 2020 has been weird and everything has been different? I think you’re going to look at Georgia football and you’re going to go ‘wait a minute, are they finally with the new age and with the norm now in college football?’ They’ll have a quarterback that can run the football and run some zone reads — someone who can actually pull it and keep that back side playing honest and kind of divide the field in half? I think it’s going to be crazy, but I think Jamie Newman is going to be the guy who is going to be truly special, but it’s going to be fun to watch.”

Newman put up big numbers for Wake Forest last year, but he’ll face more consistently high-quality opponents in the SEC. We’ll see how he fares in 2020.
