Though the Georgia Bulldogs were neck and neck with the Missouri Tigers through most of the first half (the game was once tied at 21-21), the Bulldogs eventually pulled away for a 53-28 victory.

Late in the second half, when all was nearly said and done, backup QB Jacob Eason didn’t come into the game to relieve starter Jake Fromm.

Considering how big the Georgia lead was, that was a somewhat surprising decision. On Tuesday, coach Kirby Smart said there simply wasn’t much thought given to putting Eason in the game to only hand off (via Rivals.com):

“We really just didn’t think about it much,” Smart said. “There was that last drive, we were handing the ball off, we weren’t going to throw the ball, trying to get a first down.”

Fromm was spectacular against Mizzou, throwing for 326 yards and two touchdowns — his best performance as a starter yet.

Eason will likely get more work moving forward, though, as the Bulldogs will need him to be ready should Fromm go down with an injury.
