It wasn’t pretty, but the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs held off the then-No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 23-17, on Saturday at Sanford Stadium in Athens.

Displaying a calming, veteran presence, junior quarterback Jake Fromm connected on 20-26 attempts for 187 yards and a touchdown to senior Lawrence Cager.

Leading the Bulldogs backfield with 18 carries, junior D’Andre Swift ran for 98 yards and a score. Putting the football on the ground four times, Georgia was fortunate to only lose one fumble in the game.

Having weathered one of their toughest tests of the year, Georgia gets a week to recuperate before traveling to Knoxville to face the Tennessee Volunteers on October 5.
