Could Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields meet on the field in a regular season game? Following Dabo Swinney’s recent comments expressing his willingness to renew a series against the Bulldogs, Georgia AD Greg McGarity has issued similar comments.

In case you missed it, here is what Swinney had to say about the potential of playing Georgia in the regular season.

“I think it’d be great for both fan bases. I’ve said that for a long time. We’re going to play somebody like that every year,” Swinney said according to Matt Connolly of The State. “We go to Texas A&M this year, then they come to us. We played Auburn a bunch of times. So I think that would be great.”

Now McGarity has issued his own support for the potential of another series against Clemson. The two programs last met in the 2013 and 2014 seasons, splitting both games.

“I do think down the road you will see Clemson and Georgia playing each other,” McGarity said according to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald. “I’m not sure about the frequency of it, but I do think you’ll see us play each other in the not too distant future.”

The Georgia AD also discussed his desire to see the Bulldogs play two Power 5 non-conference programs each season. Considering UGA annually plays Georgia Tech, that leaves an opening for one Power 5 team per season. Georgia currently has Notre Dame scheduled to play in Athens in 2019, a game against Virginia in Atlanta in 2020 with openings in its non-conference slate from 2021 to 2024.

That likely means a renewal of the series couldn’t take place, at least in the regular season, until 2021. If Lawrence and Fields each stick around for four years (or more), that leaves at least a chance that the two could face off in the regular season. What a showdown that potential game could be.

Georgia leads the all-time series with Clemson by a whopping 42-18-4 edge, per Winsipedia.
