The nation’s No. 1 recruiting class could be getting even better.

That’s because another elite 2018 prospect is once again available to be signed following Josh Belk’s departure from Clemson. If you are unfamiliar with his story, the 2018 U.S. Army All-American signed and enrolled early with the Tigers but decided to leave the Clemson program following spring football. Belk has been given his full release by the school and is now once again being recruited by teams in need of help on the defensive line.

Following his departure from the ACC’s version of Death Valley, Belk has visited South Carolina and now Georgia. According to Belk, Kirby Smart’s message was simple: we need you in Athens.

“He really wants me. They signed two defensive tackles within the last two years,” Belk said, according to Phil Kornblut of SportsTalk SC. “With me coming in, and they play like some three gap, four gap defense, with my versatility I can play any of those positions down there. I can change my positions on the spot and still be as effective at one position as any other one.”

Tennessee is another school that has been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Belk but it is unclear if he plans on visiting Knoxville before making a decision. As he’s previously stated, he plans to wait before rushing into a final commitment on where to go to school. Belk indicated to SportsTalk SC that he plans to wait until August announcing where he will go to school in the fall.

Belk was rated as the No. 7 defensive tackle in the nation and the No. 2 overall prospect from South Carolina according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
