Georgia appears to have added a late addition to its 2017 recruiting class by landing the commitment of junior college receiver Ahkil Crumpton. Considering the Bulldogs issues at receiver, taking a late flyer on Crumpton could pay immediate dividends for a team hoping to compete for an SEC title next season.

His 5-foot-8, 160-pound stature is surely going to bring immediate comparisons to former Bulldog receiver Isaiah McKenzie but it may be Crumpton’s comparable return skills that have Georgia so interested in bringing him to Athens, not his size.

According to the Athens Banner-Herald, McKenzie was in fact recruited to replace McKenzie.

“The smaller kid in the slot last year, that’s who they want him to replace,” Los Angeles Valley recruiting coordinator C.J. Clayborne said.

The expectation is that he should be on scholarship this season, but nothing is official yet from Georgia. Although all indications are that Crumpton will join the team, there’s still a chance this may not happen.

Crumpton announced his commitment to Georgia Tuesday afternoon by releasing the following statement:

Check out Crumpton’s highlight reel to get an idea of what he can do with the ball in his hands. He seems particularly dangerous in the return game. It’s not hard to see Crumpton making his mark on special teams immediately in Athens.
