The Georgia Bulldogs may very well be the nation’s No. 1 ranked team when the AP Top 25 is released Sunday afternoon; however, ESPN’s Football Power Index Top 25 doesn’t think so.

In fact, the FPI has Georgia falling from No. 2 to No. 3 after a 33-0 shutout against Samford University.

Fresh off a 45-12 destruction over Arizona State, the Ohio State Buckeyes jumped Kirby Smart’s team to take the No. 2 spot in the FPI rankings Sunday.

The Buckeyes narrowly beat a now-0-2 Notre Dame during Week 1. Georgia, meanwhile, has beaten its first 2 opponents 82-3 with wins over Oregon (49-3) and Samford (33-0). The defense looks historically dominant once again.

There’s a consensus among folks around the country that the top 5 teams are in some order Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Michigan, and right now, polls around the country will have them ranked in different orders.

It would surprise no one should Georgia jump Alabama for the No. 1 spot in the AP Top 25 rankings Sunday afternoon. Stetson Bennett continues to impress, throwing for 300 yards and 1 touchdown. He also added another rushing touchdown to make it 5 touchdowns through the first 2 weeks of play.
