Georgia’s 2017 recruiting class received a huge boost on Sunday when four-star RB Toneil Carter announced his decision to join the Bulldogs while at The Opening recruiting showcase in Oregon.

Carter, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound back from Houston, is listed as the No. 5 running back in the class of 2017 and the No. 16 overall recruit from the state of Texas, according to 247Sports.

Carter told 247Sports that he is thrilled to be the Bulldogs’ newest commit:

“It feels lovely to be committed to Georgia,” Carter said. “I cannot really explain the feeling. My family actually likes it more than I do, if that is even possible.”

Carter announced his commitment to Georgia RB coach Dell McGee, who apparently needed to hear some good news on Sunday:

“I talked to Coach McGee while I was having breakfast with my brother,” Carter said. “I just hit him with the fastball out of nowhere. McGee was having a rough day at the time because he was out with his wife and she lost her wedding ring. He said I brightened his day.”

Hearing that Carter is joining the Bulldogs will probably brighten the days of many other Georgia fans across the country, too.
