How exactly do you respond when you lose on a 43-yard Hail Mary pass as time expires in regulation?

You just move on.

“Well we saw what we practice a lot on Thursdays,” said Georgia coach Kirby Smart during Wednesday’s SEC teleconference. “We would like (Lorenzo) Carter to be closer up and into the fray. We have a 24-play reel of Hail Marys that we study, they play it the same way we do. Some make plays and some don’t.

“We are way past it. We are on to South Carolina. We are moving on.”

Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason hit Riley Ridley on a 47-yard Hail Mary-like scoring pass of his own to give the Bulldogs a 31-28 lead with 10 seconds remaining the game, but that allowed Tennessee to get off one final play.

The rest is history.

Georgia will go on the road to take on South Carolina this Saturday, but the status of that game’s time and/or location is still up in the air due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Matthew.
