The NFL is becoming more of a passing league as time goes on, but an effective run game is always needed if a team wants to be successful.

This past week, running backs from Georgia tore up the league, and three young backs in particular look like they have a bright future in football.

Todd Gurley

Gurley has continued to make his case for MVP in his fourth full season, and on Thursday night, he again was something special. Gurley rushed for 83 yards on 17 attempts and also caught four balls for 73 yards and a touchdown.

The Los Angeles Rams beat the Minnesota Vikings 38-31, and are now one of two undefeated teams left in the NFL. The Rams truly do look like the Super Bowl favorite at this point in the season, and Gurley might be able to pick up the MVP along the way too.

Sony Michel

We knew Sony Michel could be a talented NFL player, and in Week 4, he finally got his big chance.

During the New England Patriots’ 38-7 blowout of the Miami Dolphins, Bill Belichick rushed Michel 25 times for 112 yards, and he also scored his first NFL touchdown. His speed and elusiveness were on display for everyone on Sunday, and the rookie could be the future in New England’s backfield.

Nick Chubb

In a 45-42 overtime loss to the Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns rookie Nick Chubb touched the ball just three times. But what he did with those three touches was pretty remarkable.

Chubb rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns in limited playing time, and the Browns seem to be excited with how he’s developing. With Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson making up the rest of the crowded backfield, it’s important that Chubb makes the best of his opportunities, and that’s exactly what he did on Sunday.

Honorable mention- Alvin Kamara

OK, yes, Alvin Kamara didn’t go to Georgia, but he’s a Norcross, Ga., native.

He exploded onto the scene last season and ended up as the offensive rookie of the year despite being drafted in the third round. On Sunday, Kamara posted another impressive stat line.

The former Tennessee RB rushed for 134 yards on 19 attempts, and scored three touchdowns. He also caught five receptions for 47 yards as the New Orleans Saints cruised to a 33-18 win over the New York Giants.
