It doesn’t take much for Bulldogs and Gators to get amped up for the annual showdown in Jacksonville. There’s plenty of bad blood in the Cocktail Party rivalry from certain celebrations (2007), timeouts (2008) and heartbreaking finishes (2010, 2012).

For incoming freshman RB Elijah Holyfield, son of legendary boxer Evander Holyfield, the Georgia-Florida rivalry is already personal.

DawgNation.com’s Jeff Sentell recently caught up with Holyfield for a wide-ranging interview recapping the recruitment process and the various SEC schools that sought his pledge. When Sentell asked Holyfield which team he’s looking forward to playing the most, he didn’t hesitate to name the Gators:

Oh, that’s Florida. Definitely. I don’t like Florida guys that much. They kind of have an attitude about them. Every time we go to any 7-on-7 camp or anything like that, it is always me and a Florida guy that end up just not seeing eye-to-eye on the field.

We’re a ways off, but the Oct. 29 rumble on the river is looking like a heavyweight bout that could be decided by Florida’s defense vs. Georgia’s offense. The Gators return key contributors on the defensive line, including Caleb Brantley and Cece Jefferson, but stopping Georgia running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel is no easy task. If the UF defense gets worn down, we know Holyfield would love to be the ball-carrier to deliver the knockout blow.
