Georgia will open the 2023-24 season in Las Vegas against the Oregon Ducks, according to a report from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

The game will be part of a doubleheader at T-Mobile Arena on Nov. 6. Kansas State will also face USC on the same day. According to Rothstein, no tip-off times have been set yet and there’s no known timetable for when an official announcement from the programs will be made.

The Ducks are coming off a 21-15 season that ended in the quarterfinals of the NIT. Oregon has won at least 20 games in each of coach Dana Altman’s 13 seasons running the program, but it has missed out on the NCAA Tournament in consecutive years. The Ducks will enter the 2023-24 season led by center N’Faly Dante (last year’s leading scorer) and former South Carolina guard Jermaine Couisnard.

Georgia likely won’t be in too much different of a spot entering the new campaign. Mike White laid the groundwork in his debut season last year, winning 16 games to match a highwater mark over the last 5 years, but the Bulldogs haven’t been to the NCAA Tournament since 2015 and they haven’t won a game there since 2002.

Five newcomers — all from the transfer portal — join the squad this offseason with hopes of building upon last year’s .500 campaign.

With Oregon right out of the gates, Georgia has a potential springboard.
