Georgia will wear black uniforms in 2016. We’re just not sure when yet.

Per DawgNation.com‘s Chip Towers, Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity was asked about the prospect of wearing black uniforms sometime this season for a home game, but that it will ultimately be coach Kirby Smart’s decision.

“Whenever the black jerseys are worn, people will know well in advance of it,” McGarity said. “It’s not a gimmick; it won’t be a surprise. It will be up to Coach Smart to make that call, but it will be a home game.”

As Towers points out, it’s likely that Georgia will hold off until October before whipping these bad boys out. Georgia has only one home game in September — Week 2 against Nicholls State — and McGarity said it would be too hot to wear black then.

That means it will be narrowed down to the Tennessee game (Oct. 1), Vanderbilt (Oct. 15), Auburn (Nov. 12), Louisiana-at-Lafayette (Nov. 19) or Georgia Tech (Nov. 26). But one thing is for sure: they’re coming. And they’re going to be a treat.

“We already have them,” McGarity said. “It will be one game a year. It’s one of our team colors. But we still think our red jersey is one of the best in college football.”
