Georgia’s DL is apparently not lacking confidence heading into 2017.

Georgia’s defense played well for much of 2016 while finishing fourth in the SEC in total yards per game (327.5) and tied for fifth in points per game (24).

Expectations are certainly high heading into 2017 with a number of returning players on the defensive side of the ball, and Dan Mathews with Gridiron Now reports Julian Rochester believes Georgia’s line could be the best in the nation.

“The best in the country, I think,” Rochester said. “I believe so, if we put our mind to it. We have the best coach and the best players to do it, so it can be there and be done.”

Rochester believes the success for UGA and their defense will begin with their mindset.

“We’re just hungrier,” Rochester explained. “We attack it differently. We threw out all the excuses…There’s no more excuse. We all just attack every day, and the competition with each other is amazing because we just want the best for the team.”

Now it is up to Rochester and the rest of the DL to back it up.

The Bulldogs begin their season against Appalachian State, but their first real defensive test will likely come against Notre Dame on Sept. 9 in South Bend.
