Tough news to share out of Oakland as recently signed running back Isaiah Crowell has reportedly suffered a season-ending injury while training for the upcoming NFL season.

Crowell, a former promising Georgia running back who rushed for 850 yards and five touchdowns during his only season in Athens, signed with the Raiders this offseason after rushing for 685 yards for the New York Jets last season. During his five years in the NFL, Crowell has rushed for 3,803 yards and 27 touchdowns.

News of Crowell’s injury was first reported by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. According to Schefter, Crowell suffered the injury during offseason training and he is scheduled to have surgery next week. The injury is expected to cost Crowell the entire 2019 season.

While the injury is obviously bad news for the Raiders, the team just drafted Alabama running back Josh Jacobs in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. This injury could mean an increased workload for the rookie running back next fall.

If you missed it earlier this week, Josh Jacobs opened with 9/1 odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year. Now may be the time to jump on those odds before Jacobs takes over the starting role in Oakland.
