The nation’s top quarterback is sticking with his original decision.

Through two changes at offensive coordinator and one at head coach, five-star Jacob Eason (Lake Stevens, Wash.) has remained committed to Georgia. Now, after flirting with and considering a switch to Florida, Eason has decided to head to the school in Athens, Ga., he originally committed to in July of 2014.

Per multiple reports, Eason is going to Georgia.

Words perhaps can’t express how big this is for new Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart and perhaps the Georgia program as a whole. Misses on the recruiting trail at quarterback had put the Bulldogs offense in a lurch, despite considerable talent elsewhere. Now, even though he’s going to be a true freshman heading into 2016, Smart and new offensive coordinator Jim Chaney have a big-time talent to work with.

Eason, who was just named the Gatorade National Player of the Year on Tuesday, will be the most talented signal caller in the program from the day he steps on campus at UGA next month. The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder has every chance to accomplish what the great Bulldogs signal callers during the past decade and a half- guys like Aaron Murray, Matt Stafford and David Greene, did in terms of individual performance and perhaps he can achieve even more from a team success standpoint.

There are more prospects rated highly at quarterback these days that end up not working out than those that do, but Eason is as close to a safe bet as you can get and that’s a great piece of the puzzle to start with for Smart and his staff.
