Some sports stories are so good, you can’t fathom even making them up if you tried.

The ending of Jadon Haselwood’s high school career was one of those as the nation’s No. 1 receiver prospect went out like a hero Tuesday night down in Atlanta. Thanks to Haselwood’s heroics, Cedar Grove won the 3A Georgia state title playing inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Cedar Grove was down 13-7 before the final score of the game, which came on this Haselwood reception, which was posted by Rusty Mansell of 247Sports:

As if that wasn’t a great enough story, you should know that Haselwood was honoring a slain friend during the game. The Cedar Grove receiver typically wears No. 2 but was wearing No. 11, which was worn by Trevon Richardson last season. Tragically, Richardson was gunned down and lost his life during the summer.

Leading up to the game, Haselwood announced his final five schools leading up to next week’s early signing period. However, the nation’s No. 1 receiver does not plan to announce his final decision until National Signing Day in February, at least, that’s the plan as of now.

The former Georgia commit is still considering the Bulldogs, with Tennessee (which he visited last weekend), FSU, Miami and Oklahoma rounding out his top 5. He even wore cleats featuring the logos of the five schools on Tuesday:
