Former Georgia All-American and current ESPN college football analyst David Pollack was prepared to pick the Bulldogs to win it all this season.

Now, following Jamie Newman’s decision to opt-out and turn his attention to preparing for the 2021 NFL Draft, that selection has been updated.

During his three seasons at Wake Forest, Newman completed 60.5 percent of his passes for 3,959 yards with a touchdown to interception ratio of 35-16. He also rushed for 826 yards and 10 scores.

Here is what Pollack had to say following Newman’s decision:

“With Jamie Newman as Georgia’s QB I was going to pick them to win the Natty. Now? Back to Bama/Clemson,” Pollack posted.

If you missed it, Newman officially confirmed his decision to opt-out on Wednesday, thanking Kirby Smart and the Bulldog program for welcoming him but noting the uncertainty surrounding this season as the prime reason for his decision to sit out the fall season.

Now the football in Athens will likely be turned over to JT Daniels — provided he is fully healthy after suffering a season-ending injury last season at USC.
