Former Wake Forest quarterback — and one-time Georgia commit — Jamie Newman has signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.

That’s according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

Newman originally committed to Georgia in January of 2020, but ended up opting out of the 2020 season due to the pandemic.

All things considered, Philadelphia is a good landing spot for Newman. The Eagles depth chart is relatively weak at quarterback. Jalen Hurts is unproven and is the presumed starter, with 36-year-old Joe Flacco being the only other rostered backup.

During his time at Wake Forest, Newman completed 60.5 percent of his passes for 3,959 yards and 35 touchdowns. He also rushed for 826 yards and 10 scores on the ground.

Newman is joined by former SEC journeyman Feleipe Franks in the undrafted free agent market. Franks has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Atlanta Falcons.

Georgia ended up being fine at quarterback without Newman’s services. JT Daniels took over the job mid-year, and ended up throwing for 1,231 yards and 10 touchdowns in four games.
